Armstrong Roof Repair, Replacement & Installation
Whether it's a leaky pipe boot or a 50-square replacement, our Armstrong crews have the training and equipment to handle it. Residential and commercial.
Roof Replacement
Owens Corning Duration with SureNail technology or CertainTeed Landmark with NailTrak for reliable fastening in high-wind zones. Both meet ASTM D3462 and carry Class A fire ratings per UL 790. In Iowa, we recommend the high-wind versions rated to ASTM D7158 Class H, which is 130 mph wind warranty. Full system install qualifies for Owens Corning Preferred Protection or CertainTeed SureStart Plus warranty.

Improper step flashing is the leading cause of roof leaks at wall-to-roof transitions. Step flashing needs to be woven between shingle courses with each piece extending 4" above the shingle exposure. We see Armstrong homes where the last roofer used continuous L-flashing or just caulked the gap. That always fails. We tear it out and install proper step flashing with a kick-out diverter at the bottom per IRC R905.2.8.3.

We handle storm damage claims from start to finish: inspection, documentation, claim filing, adjuster meeting, supplement if needed, repair or replacement, and final inspection. Our supplement team has recovered thousands in additional coverage for Armstrong homeowners that adjusters initially missed.

For Armstrong new builds, we recommend Tamko Heritage or Malarkey Vista AR for budget-conscious projects and Atlas Pinnacle Pristine with Scotchgard for algae-resistant performance. High-end builds get GAF Timberline HDZ or Owens Corning Duration STORM. Each carries different warranty tiers. We walk you through the comparison so you're choosing with real information, not marketing brochures.

Metal roofing reflects solar heat instead of absorbing it. In Iowa, that means 15-25% lower cooling costs compared to dark asphalt shingles. The higher upfront cost pays for itself over the life of the roof. And the life of a metal roof is twice or three times longer than shingles.

The difference between a cheap shingle roof and a quality one comes down to the system underneath. Shingles are only the outer layer. Ice and water shield in the valleys, synthetic underlayment across the deck, proper starter strip with factory adhesive, correct nailing pattern. That's what makes a shingle roof last in Iowa's weather.

TPO single-ply membrane is our most-installed flat roof system in Armstrong. White reflective surface reduces cooling costs, hot-air welded seams are watertight, and 15-20 year manufacturer warranties are standard. Available in 45-mil, 60-mil, and 80-mil thickness.

Commercial roof maintenance programs keep small problems from becoming big ones. We offer annual and semi-annual inspection contracts for Armstrong building owners. We find and fix issues before they cause interior damage to your inventory, equipment, or tenant spaces.

We hang gutters with hidden hangers screwed into the rafter tails or fascia board every 24 inches max. No spike-and-ferrule, no exposed hardware. Proper pitch is 1/4" per 10 feet toward each downspout. Too flat and water sits. Too steep and it looks wrong.

Annual inspections catch small problems early. A cracked pipe boot is a $150 repair. A year of water leaking through that crack causes $3,000+ in ceiling, insulation, and drywall damage. We recommend an inspection every 2-3 years for newer roofs, annually for roofs over 15 years.

Storm, wind, hail, or fallen tree. We've handled every kind of roofing emergency in Armstrong. First priority is always preventing further water damage to your interior. Second priority is documentation for insurance. Third is the permanent fix.

Skylight replacement on existing curbs: VELUX FCM curb-mount units install directly on the existing curb frame. No structural modification, no interior disruption. The FCM sits on the curb with a built-in sill pan and integrates with a new QCM flashing kit. Low-E4 laminated glass with argon fill provides R-value improvements over older skylights. Solar-powered blinds and venting available on VSS models. The 10-year No Leak Installation Warranty requires VELUX-certified installation with the complete flashing system.
